"Le'es Erev" לעת ערב has the gematria of 772. I recalculated it to be sure; see below. So perhaps the beginning of the "toward evening" period began in 5772 (2012), rather than now. In that case, we are well into evening now, 9 years later.
ל = 30
ע = 70 x 2 occurrences in the phrase = 140
ת = 400
ר = 200
ב = 2
=772
