Sephardi Chief Rabbi and The Noahide Laws

"We are saddened that there are those in the media who choose to distort the issue, to remove it from it context and to present it in a negative light.”

CLARIFICATION by the Chief Sephardic Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef about his weekly lecture. "These instructions are theoretical and deal with upholding the seven Noahide Laws during the time of the Messiah. They have no connection to our current time. It's clear that there is no rule today to deport those who aren't Jewish from the Land of Israel.”

"The honorable Rishon Lezion has always held a conciliatory manner and he would not present such an extreme stance. He is one of the few who declared it is forbidden to kill a neutralized terrorist and that the terrorist must be handed over to the authorities.

"The Torah of Israel is a Torah of life and encourages peace and tolerance. We are saddened that there are those in the media who choose to distort the issue, to remove it from it context and to present it in a negative light.”

HOWEVER, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS NECESSARY TO BACKTRACK ON A TORAH LESSON IN HALACHA THAT HAS VALIDITY CONCERNING DEFENDING SOLDIERS IN THIS INTIFADA OF PERSECUTION BY THE G-DLESS IMMORAL (AMALAKITE) PALESTINIANS IN THEIR DRIVE TO KILL JEWS. WE HAVE JUST COME FROM PURIM AND THE ALMOST ANNIHILATION OF THE JEWS OF THE TIME.

The Jerusalem Post seized on Chief Rabbi Yosef's words and gave it their choicest coverage. This paper was once the voice of proud Jews who defended the laws and life of Jews in Israel. But now, in my opinion, it has succumbed to the smoke of the fuming leftist ideology.

The Jerusalem Post Tuesday edition printed the following BOLDLY under the headline: Non-Jews are forbidden by Jewish law to live in Israel, chief rabbi says.  Jewish law bans non-Jews from living in the Land of Israel unless they adhere to the seven Noahide laws […] The article continues:

“According to Jewish law, it’s forbidden for a non-Jew to live in the Land of Israel – unless he has accepted the seven Noahide laws,” Yosef said in his latest weekly sermon over the weekend.

JPost conjectural Editorial comment:  Yosef’s comments appear to have been aimed specifically at Palestinians, since he said one of the Noahide laws is not to commit suicide, a reference to suicide bombers and terrorists. The Noahide laws, seven specific, basic laws delineated by the Talmud for non-Jews to keep, do not specifically mention suicide, but do prohibit murder.

“If the non-Jew is unwilling to accept these laws, then we can send him to Saudi Arabia,” the rabbi said. “When there will be full, true redemption, we will do this.” Yosef said explicitly that a non-Jew who does abide by the Noahide laws is permitted to live in the Land of Israel, saying that such people will be assistants and helpers for the Jewish people.

Immediately the JDL Attacks the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel

”The statement of Chief Rabbi Yosef are unspeakable and expose, yet again, the chief rabbi’s ignorance and lack of tolerance to anyone who is different from him,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO and national director, and Carole Nuriel, ADL Israel acting director.

Jonathan Greenblatt and Carole Nuriel should retract their ignorant and insulting comment about Chief Rabbi Yosef. He is neither ignorant or intolerant. He who upholds the Torah is wise.

“The exclusion and demeaning of a large group of people in Israel, who are not Jewish, and the call for their expulsion is unacceptable coming from anyone and particularly the chief rabbi – a spiritual leader who must set an example of morality, and who has influence on society.”

Speaking of morality, the Seven Nohide laws are the epitome of morality and tolerance. Greenbelt and Nuriel should be quick to defend a Jew who protects and uphold the Halachos of Judaism. This is due to the twisted thinking of the liberal and leftist ideology choking America.

Earlier this month, Yosef was strongly criticized when he said that religious law mandates the killing of an armed terrorist who is trying to commit a violent attack, and shouldn’t be afraid of being tried in court over such an action. The rabbi stressed, however, that a murderous attacker who no longer has a weapon should not be killed, but rather put in prison for the rest of his life.

That murderous attacker may still be wearing an expolsive vest however.

Following his comments, several MKs and NGOs said he should leave such matters to the heads of the security services and political decision makers.

Again the ignorant leftist MKs and NGOs are foaming at the mouth to attack the Jewish religion and especially the Chief Rabbi.

JPost Supercilious Editorial comment:  Yosef is the latest in a list of rabbis who in recent months have advocated killing terrorists while they are murdering innocent people, on the basis of a precept in Jewish law that permits killing a person seeking to kill you.

“If a terrorist is advancing with a knife, it’s a mitzva [commandment] to kill him,” said Yosef.

This is a Halacha of Judaism and the Chief Rabbi is timely and correct to state this. Especially reassuring and during this current onslaught by the Palestinian terrorists in their bloodthirsty campaign to kill Jews, any Jew (children, women).

“One shouldn’t be afraid that someone will petition the High Court of Justice or some [army] chief of staff will come and say something different. There is no need to be afraid. ‘He who comes to kill you, get up and kill him,’” [...] “This also deters them. When a terrorist knows that if he comes with a knife he won’t return alive, it deters him, so therefore it’s a mitzva to kill him.”

JPost Editorial comment: In mentioning the chief of staff, Yosef was referring to recent comments by Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, who said in February the military should not operate according to this precept, adding that “a soldier should not empty a magazine of ammunition into a girl holding scissors.”

How insulting could a commander be, no one emptied their magazine! This statement by Eisenkot was nasty about his own IDF soldiers; it is a wonder the young impressionable soldiers are not embarrassed and insulted.   (About this read: MK Shuli Mualem up in arms over investigation)

What exactly are the Seven Laws of the Noahide (Chabad)

According to the sages of the Talmud, there are 70 families with 70 paths within the great Family of Man. And each individual has his or her path within a path. Yet, there is one universal basis for us all. Jewish Universal Morality

At the dawn of human history, G‑d gave man seven rules to follow in order that His world be sustained. So it is recounted in the Book of Genesis as interpreted by our tradition in the Talmud. There will come a time, our sages told us, that the children of Noah will be prepared to return to this path. That will be the beginning of a new world, a world of wisdom and peace.

At the heart of this universal moral code is the acknowledgement that morality - indeed, civilization itself - must be predicated on the belief in G‑d. Unless we recognize a Higher Power to whom we are responsible and who observes and knows our actions, we will not transcend the selfishness of our character and the subjectivity of our intellect. If man himself is the final arbiter of right and wrong, then "right", for him or her, will be what they desire, regardless of its consequences to the other inhabitants of earth.

At Mount Sinai, G‑d charged the Children of Israel to serve as His "Light unto the nations" by bringing all of humanity to a recognition of their Creator and adherence to His laws.

[...]When the Lubavitcher Rebbe began speaking about publicizing them as a preparation for a new era, he was reviving an almost lost tradition.

"The Seven Noahide Laws" are a sacred inheritance of all the children of Noah, one that every person on the face of the earth can use as the basis of his or her spiritual, moral and pragmatic life."

The seven Noachide laws are:

1  Acknowledge that there is only one G‑d who is Infinite and Supreme above all things. Do not replace that Supreme Being with finite idols, be it yourself, or other beings. This command includes such acts as prayer, study and meditation.

2  Respect the Creator. As frustrated and angry as you may be, do not vent it by cursing your Maker.

3  Respect human life. Every human being is an entire world. To save a life is to save that entire world. To destroy a life is to destroy an entire world. To help others live is a corollary of this principle.

4  Respect the institution of marriage. Marriage is a most Divine act. The marriage of a man and a woman is a reflection of the oneness of G‑d and His creation. Disloyalty in marriage is an assault on that oneness.

5  Respect the rights and property of others. Be honest in all your business dealings. By relying on G‑d rather than on our own conniving, we express our trust in Him as the Provider of Life.

6  Respect G‑d's creatures. At first, Man was forbidden to consume meat. After the Great Flood, he was permitted - but with a warning: Do not cause unnecessary suffering to any creature.

7  Maintain justice. Justice is G‑d's business, but we are given the charge to lay down necessary laws and enforce them whenever we can. When we right the wrongs of society, we are acting as partners in the act of sustaining the creation.

It is my opinion, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef is correct. In my studying, only descendants of Israel may own land in Israel. However, that doesn't mean, people like me, could not live in Israel. We have a tikkun, too. We (our ancestors)in foolish hate and ignorance destroyed the Holy Temple. We can't rebuild it, but perhaps our tikkun is defending and protecting you while you do.

We cannot expect anything better coming out from these establishment 'jewish' organizations. They might represent space aliens but do not in any way, shape or form represent the Jewish people and all that we stand for. Torah is our Guide! These radicals are mostly erev rav and their followers are either that too or just useful idiots. They have no respect for Torah leaders.

Rabbi Yosef is 100& correct. No non-Jew (Arab, xtian, etc., etc.) is allowed to live in the Land of Israel unless they abide by the Seven Laws of Noach. That is Halacha! The Knesset, courts, in the State of Israel have no respect for Torah and so it is no surprise they do and say what they say and do. The Jerusalem Post is the same as all the leftist rags in Israel. There was a time when it was a respectable paper but that is gone.
